red sky at morning…

Filed under: diary — Trefor Davies @ 8:45 am

Woke up this morning to a gorgeous red sky. Of course it might have looked nice but we all know that such a natural phenomenon at this time of day ain’t good news. Pesky shepherds/sailors/metoffice what do they know? I don’t mind the rain but it does mean I’ll be driving to the physio this lunchtime. I had thought of walking it as it is, I believe, now in range but the projected precipitation has tipped the balance in favour of mechanised transportation.

After that it’s the optician, also by car as that is further. I’d have to walk past both the Morning Star and Strugglers to get there. Mental torture ou quoi? 🙂 Reality is that all these places are now in range although not yet put to the test. It’s almost a time thing. It’ll take me five minutes to drive to the optician but half an hour ish to walk there. The scourge of modern society. Time. Or lack of it.

In theory I have plenty of time. It’s just that I’ve got used to thinking that we should do things quickly because we might need that time for something else. I could easily spare the time to walk to the physio for one thirty then mosey on to the Bailgate to kill some time before my optician’s appointment at 3pm. Get home for 3.45 say. What would I do in the meantime. Sit in a coffee shop looking out of the window? uhuh. I could spend a bit of time in the Whisky Shop but that would end in tears. I could nip in for a chat with my mate Ian in Colonia jewellers but Wednesday is his half day. Car it is. Gonna rain anyway, as you know.

No fox news this morning. Not since his surprise visit at two seventeen yesterday afternoon. I was looking out of the shed doors and there he was. A first for me. Daylight sighting. Getting bold. Hungry maybe? It is quiet around the lake at this time of year although the birds were in full voice in the late afternoon.

Had a bit of a stroke of genius yesterday. Some wooden furniture has been propped up under the front “canopy” of the shed for a while. I say canopy. It is an eighteen inch sticking out bit that at least provides some shelter but in reality the stormy weather of late has been more than a match for any shelter offered. So I’ve moved it around to the side of the shed, leant it against the fence and covered it with the barbecue cover. Dunno why I didn’t think of it before!. Hasn’t been used to cover the barbecue since we had it built in to a granite work surface. Years ago.

While I was on a roll I even did some tidying up in the shed. Had some camping chairs in there left over from the last time we hosted the rugby watching. Now they are back in their bags and out of the way. It won’t be long before the leather armchair I’ve been using in the snug is back in the shed where it belongs. I had to move it (have it moved) into the snug because it was the only one at the right height for the prescribed post hiphoperative sitting position. That is all in the past, yay.

Last quiet night in tonight for a few days. Brace yerself Tref.
