school’s out for summer

Filed under: diary — Trefor Davies @ 9:53 am

It must be said we do have some lovely summer traditions. Just heard a trailer for the proms on the beeb. Even if you don’t listen to them it’s nice to know they are there. I do watch the occasional prom. The one I can’t watch is the last night which a very English jingoistic “aren’t we great” jobbie. As a Welsh/Irishman its a real turnoff. They do try to make it a “British” affair by holding last night events in Wales, Scotland and Ireland but to me that’s just a sop.

School must be out for summer. Just heard an enormous racket from Christ Hospital School over the road. In just a few minutes it has already died down as the little darlings presumably make their way home. Yay. We all like a long summer holiday.

Bloody pigeons have been vandalising the lake again. Fountain knocked over, rescue boat overturned and the jetty knocked out of place. I’ve moved the fountain and shoved it between two rocks to see if that helps. All the vegetation is down one end now and hopefully that will sort it. Dunno. Rescue boat has been taken out of the water for now.

Back in the pool again with THG then I dropped her off for her weights class before driving home. She goes to a different gym. Then a v productive morning chatting to Claude. Done enough chatting for now. Got a few bits and bobs to do. Also need to get ready for the Heckington Show but we aren’t going until Friday and I’ve just dropped campervan Betty off at Coops’ to get the handbrake sorted so it’ll wait until tomorrow. Or Friday. Not much to do really. Just need to make sure we have all the right supplies in. No electric hookup so will need to adapt to the absence of refrigeration.

Thinking of selling Betty after Heckington. Having had her for over 10 years we’ve done ok by her and it’s time perhaps to move on. We can always hire a van for the weekend. Something with a shower and loo onboard. Creature comforts. Twould be the end of an era.
